Gianluca Patti
Biography
Gianluca Patti was born in 1977 in Monza, where he currently lives and works. His research focuses on the study of colour and material as narration tools of the intimate sphere and the temporal dimension.
The study, self-taught, of the history of art, has played a fundamental role in his artistic research: at the beginning of his path, he became fascinated by the pictorial work of great artists as Pollock, Vedova and Basquiat, deepening their chromatic equilibrium and trying to develop a unique approach to the colour, within a personal research constantly evolving. He was attracted also by the Arte Povera artistic movement and by the Readymade approach, fascinated by the de-contextualisation and the new life given to common goods. Therefore, he started to study the most evocative materials of his life, represented, given his education and his familiar context linked to the construction sector, by building materials, using them as construction elements of his own artistic process. The results are stratified artworks, where cement, resin, nets and pigments become a metaphor of sedimented memories and traces of the past.
Gianluca Patti’s work has been exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions, becoming also a part of relevant contemporary art collections.
Thanks to his transversal approach, he also participated in the realisation of scenographies in the advertising and interior design sectors, and has been selected for corporate art projects.
