Artist’s notes
Jacques Leo is a young emerging Italian artistww who,
since his childhood, has dedicated and still devotes his
life to the art world.
He began his career at the age of 3, drawing for a long
time the same subject that was enriched, little by little,
by significant details that underline the discoveries that
occur in a child of that age.
The material, thanks to the influential presence of the
father, was collected, photographed and filed in order to
have a linear path as regards the artistic experience of
this young artist.
The developments made are the following: the figurative
element is always present in the artist’s works and
gradually takes on more form and vitality thanks to the
continuous study and personal growth.
Philosophy, chemistry, geometry, alchemy, symbolism,
esotericism is the complex of knowledge that clearly
transpires from the works of Jacques.
Strongly fascinated by the shamanic culture, this is the
subject of the first section that we meet in this catalog.
Observing the shamanic figurative subjects of Jacques
we are immediately pervaded by a sense of ascetic
mysticism capable of transporting us in the complex
journey that the mind makes during the meditative act.
The second section we meet is that of the Mandalas,
closely linked to the third section called the Universes.
The word Mandala, in the Buddhist and Hindu
religion, represents the configuration of a space around
a “center” or a “circle” delineating in various ways the
ancient notion of totality.
The Mandalas can therefore be defined as geometric
representations of various complexities with the aim of
involving the entire Universe in the ritual act of prayer.
The presence, inside the canvases, of materials such
as hemp, soil, gold, textiles, are elements that strongly
distinguish Jacques as an artist who not only mastered
a rich knowledge about different cultures but also has
the ability to work with the material, transforming it
and integrating it perfectly within its subjects that are
figurative or not.
Jacques Leo is an artist who has been studying for a long
time, both in terms of spiritual and material knowledge.
Painting, sculpture, tailoring, woodworking, marbles,
metalworking, are just some of the activities to which
the artist demonstrates great familiarity.
Always ready to experiment with new materials coming
from Mother Nature, his goal is to bring his material
and philosophical knowledge to an ever higher level.
