GAIA BIANCHI e ANDREA ZARDIN Interview by Francesca Di Giorgio for Espoarte

Info

Gaia, specialized art advisor, then, in the educational sector. Andrea fourth generation of gallery owners with, by his own admission, "a natural instinct for curating and a passion for young contemporary artists with whom over the past few years he has realized not only exhibition projects but also ethical and institutional projects".
From their surnames, however, Bianchi and Zardin (but without conjunction) a professional marriage was born which gave birth to a new space for contemporary art in Milan: Bianchi Zardin Contemporary Art. We talked about it with them just before the opening yesterday with the solo show of the young artist Brigitta Rossetti ...

Milan. Via Maroncelli, 14. Can you describe your space? Who are your "neighbors"? Am I wrong or are you among art galleries, fashion ateliers, the historic La Pesa restaurant and the Feltrinelli Foundation?
The Maroncelli District has become a very interesting neighborhood both from a residential and commercial point of view. It has taken on an international aspect while keeping its historical roots intact. For example, our space was the personal studio of Grazia Neri (for the record, the founder of the first Italian photo agency, founded in 1966, ed.), A place that has always had creativity as a protagonist.

In your statement I read the desire to focus on young people. Short and medium term goals?
Our goal is to grow the artists who already work with us (Alessandro Borgonovo, Brigida Rossetti, Arjan Sheraj, Emilia Faro, Gianluca Patti, Max Serradifalco, Lorenzo Perrone, Lorenzo Puglisi, ed) and to acquire new ones not only Italian, we believe that collaboration and the exchange of ideas are fundamental for the promotion of culture. We will work on topics and the artists will propose their art as an expression of macro-themes.

Why did you choose to open the gallery with a personal exhibition by Brigitta Rossetti?
The birth of the Gallery was preceded by a great deal of study and planning and if we were to describe our vision in a few words we would choose "to make culture". Brigitta is a complete artist whose creativity is expressed through multiple media. His delicate and sophisticated way of communicating existential concepts has won us over.

Scheduled ... Upcoming appointments inside and outside the gallery spaces?
We have chosen to work on the theme of identity research and we plan a collective and one show before the summer with works in the gallery and an external installation. As far as fairs are concerned, we are evaluating which events can be more interesting and suitable for our artist.
