Johann Wolfgang Goethe, visitando l'Italia tra il 1786 e il 1788, scrisse: “Qui, tra tanta varietà di piante che vedo per la prima volta, mi si fa sempre più chiara e viva l’ipotesi che in conclusione tutte le forme delle piante si possano far derivare da una pianta sola”. Si tratta della palma: pianta titanica, sacra e antica, sorgente di vita che per Faro, simbolo insostituibile in tutta la sua produzione artistica, rappresenta comparabilmente la forza e la bellezza, l'emisfero maschile e quello femminile, la linfa vitale adornata di dignità e di costanza. Inoltre e sin dai tempi delle antiche scritture, la palma assurge a simbolo di vittoria poiché pur essendo appesantita sovente da tutti i suoi preziosi frutti di dattero, anziché piegarsi su se stessa si erge, sempre più in alto, perpetua, tronfia e svettante.

This is the palm: a titanic, sacred and ancient plant, a source of life that for Faro, an irreplaceable symbol in all his artistic production, comparably represents strength and beauty, the male and female hemispheres, the lifeblood adorned with dignity and constancy. Moreover, and since the time of ancient scripture, the palm tree has been a symbol of victory, for although it is often weighed down by all its precious date fruits, instead of folding in on itself, it stands perpetually taller, more and more lofty, truncated and soaring.
